Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), a leading public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, has appointed Dr. Seema Suri as a Non-official (Independent) Director on its Board. Her tenure is for a period of three years, effective from May 20, 2025, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Dr. Suri brings with her a rich background in education, media, and social welfare. A postgraduate in Arts from Ramjas College, University of Delhi, and a B.Ed. from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, she has been recognized with an Honorary Doctor of Literature (D.Litt.), titled Vidya Sagar, from Vikramshila Hindi Vidyapeeth, Bhagalpur, and the title Samaj Bhushan – Ph.D. (Vidyavachaspati) by Sahitya Mandal Shri Nath.
Her career spans over two decades, including her tenure as a Teacher and Block Incharge at Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj (1999–2016). She has also presented a variety of educational and social programs on All India Radio and Doordarshan, further expanding her impact on public awareness and education.
Dr. Suri is the Founder and National President of Sarva Seva Sansthan, a non-profit dedicated to social development. Under her leadership, the organization has spearheaded a wide range of initiatives in education, healthcare, environment, and women empowerment. These include:
1)Adoption of government schools to improve infrastructure
2)Health camps and awareness drives
3)Media workshops and monthly cleanliness campaigns
4)Tree plantation initiatives
5)Programs under Beti Bachao Abhiyan, focusing on child welfare and self-defense training for girls
Dr. Suri’s efforts have earned her numerous accolades from national and international institutions. She also currently serves as a Member of the Film Censor Board Advisory Committee, Delhi.
Her appointment is expected to bring a diverse and socially conscious perspective to the Board of Cochin Shipyard, aligning with the company’s vision for inclusive growth and corporate social responsibility.
