“Launched E-Book Civil List-2021 of IAS officers prepared by DoPT. With the personal intervention of PM @NarendraModi, a Common Eligibility Test for job aspirants to be conducted across the country with at least one Centre in each district,” wrote Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh.

According to Dr Singh, a Common Eligibility Test (CET) will be conducted for job aspirants across India from early 2022. Calling it a unique initiative done with the personal intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to screen and shortlist the candidates for Central Government jobs, he said that the first such test was schedules before the end of this year but is likely to be delayed due to the ongoing pandemic.

Dr Singh said that the CET is a path-breaking reform carried out by Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) to “ease out recruitment” for youngsters, keeping in mind the aspirants living in remote areas.

The Union Cabinet has approved of the National Recruitment Agency (NRA) for conducting Common Eligibility Test. Candidates are to be shortlisted for jobs in government sectors, recruitment for which is presently carried out through Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and Institute of Banking Personal Selection (IBPS).

Dr Singh said that this reform will make sure that every district in the country will at least have one examination centre for candidates living in far-flung areas. He said that this initiative will benefit women and Divyang (especially abled) candidates who find it difficult to appear for multiple tests by travelling to multiple centres.

Talking about the e-Book IAS Civil List 2021, Dr Singh said that the list will help select right officers for right assignments based on their available profile, which is also a vital source of information on the officers manning various posts for the general public. This e-Book is also an effort made by the Department to contribute towards Indian governments Digital India Initiative.

This first version of e-Book in pdf is the 66th edition of Civil List. The e-Book is instilled with unique search facilities and is hyperlinked with contents to get access of information in just a click. The Civil List contains informations regarding officers’ batch, cadre, present posting, qualification, pay scale, date of superannuation along with their overall cadre-wise strength, number of IAS officers retiring in next five years, number of IAS officers appointed on the basis of Civil Services Examination from 1969 onwards.  It also includes pictures of IAS officers and is also available on the website of the Department.
