New Delhi: In a significant move towards sustainable logistics, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) and GAIL (India) Ltd. on April 23, 2025.
The agreement was formalized in the presence of Mr Sanjay Swarup, Chairman and Managing Director of CONCOR, and Shri Sanjay Kumar, Director (Marketing) of GAIL (India) Ltd., along with other senior officers from both organizations.
The MoU marks a joint effort between CONCOR and GAIL to foster the adoption of clean fuel and promote green logistics solutions across India. A key focus of this collaboration is the development of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Liquefied Compressed Natural Gas (LCNG) stations at CONCOR’s terminals, advancing eco-friendly practices in the logistics sector.
Key Highlights of the Collaboration:
- The first LNG station will be set up at CONCOR’s Khodiyar Terminal in Ahmedabad, marking the beginning of a nationwide network of sustainable fueling stations.
- GAIL will explore LNG supply options for CONCOR and its fleet of vehicles, trucks, and other logistical operations, ensuring mutually beneficial terms.
- The partnership will focus on providing assured, stable, and competitively priced LNG, a crucial factor in driving the adoption of natural gas as a clean fuel for logistics.
- Additionally, the collaboration opens up the possibility of transporting LNG via CONCOR rakes from GAIL’s terminals near seaports, such as Dahej in Gujarat, to inland locations across the country.
This strategic alliance demonstrates a shared commitment between CONCOR and GAIL towards a cleaner, more sustainable energy future and highlights both companies’ efforts to innovate environmentally responsible logistics solutions in India.
The MoU is poised to play a pivotal role in reshaping the logistics landscape in India by enhancing the adoption of green fuel alternatives, reducing carbon footprints, and contributing to the country’s transition to a more sustainable and energy-efficient transport network.
