New Delhi/Sambalpur: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a premier subsidiary of Coal India Limited, hosted the Consumers Meet 2025 at its headquarters in Sambalpur, Odisha, reaffirming its customer-first philosophy and commitment to efficient, transparent, and sustainable coal supply.

Top MCL Leadership Leads Dialogue

The event was presided over by CMD Uday A Kaole, who was joined by key members of MCL’s leadership team, including:

  • PK Patel, Chief Vigilance Officer
  • JK Borah, Director (Technical/Operations)
  • AK Behura, Director (Finance)
  • SK Jha, Director (Technical/Project & Planning)

General Managers from various operational areas, Heads of Departments, and other senior officials also participated.

In his keynote address, CMD Kaole emphasized:

Kaole reiterated MCL’s role in supporting India’s energy security, stressing innovation in mining and logistics.

Industry Stakeholders Engage in Open Dialogue

The meet witnessed participation from major coal consumers, including:

  • Adani Power Ltd
  • JPL Tamnar
  • DB Power Ltd
  • APGENCO
  • NTPC Ltd
  • GMR Kamalanga

An open forum allowed consumers to voice concerns and give feedback, which was constructively addressed by MCL officials.

CCAI Calls for Evolving Consumer-Centric Models

Subhashree Choudhary, Secretary General of the Coal Consumers Association of India (CCAI), stressed the need for consumer-centric practices, particularly as industry dynamics evolve rapidly with increasing demand and environmental considerations.

A Step Toward Sustainable Partnerships

The event reinforced MCL’s strategy of strengthening trust, promoting transparency, and fostering lasting relationships with both power and non-power sector consumers through operational excellence and strategic stakeholder engagement.

About Mahanadi Coalfields Limited

MCL is a major coal-producing company in India and a subsidiary of Coal India Limited. It was carved out of South Eastern Coalfields Limited in 1992 and is headquartered in Sambalpur, Odisha. MCL operates several open-cast and underground coal mines, primarily in Odisha. MCL’s operations are mainly concentrated in Odisha, with mines in districts like Jharsuguda and Angul. MCL is one of the eight subsidiaries of Coal India Limited, which is under the Ministry of Coal.
