Dehradun: In a major boost to education infrastructure in Uttarakhand, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has approved the establishment of a new Kendriya Vidyalaya in Madannegi, located in Tehri Garhwal district. The school will begin operations from the academic session 2026–27 under the civil sector.

Big Relief for Students in Tehri Region

The new Kendriya Vidyalaya is expected to bring quality education closer to students in Madannegi and surrounding areas, reducing the need to travel long distances for Kendriya Vidyalaya-level schooling.

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Welcomes Move

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed gratitude to the Central Government for approving the project. He said the initiative will:

  • Strengthen local educational infrastructure
  • Provide access to high-quality education
  • Support the overall development of youth in the region

He reiterated that both the Centre and State governments are committed to advancing education and shaping students’ futures.

School to Start with Primary Classes

As per the initial plan:

  • The school will begin with Classes 1 to 5
  • Each class will have one section
  • The institution will be expanded gradually based on future approvals and requirements

The admission process is expected to begin within 30 days after completion of formalities.

Part of Nationwide Expansion Plan

The approval aligns with the Government of India’s broader plan to establish 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country. The Madannegi school is one of the institutions included in this expansion initiative aimed at improving access to quality education nationwide.

Boost to Regional Development

The establishment of a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Madannegi is likely to:

  • Enhance educational opportunities in rural Uttarakhand
  • Promote balanced regional development
  • Encourage academic excellence in underserved areas

This move follows similar approvals in the state, including a Kendriya Vidyalaya sanctioned earlier in Chamoli district.

The new Kendriya Vidyalaya in Madannegi marks a significant step toward strengthening the education ecosystem in Tehri Garhwal, ensuring that students in remote regions have access to quality schooling from the upcoming academic session.
