BHOPAL: In a high-level meeting held at the Ministry under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the Council of Ministers approved a series of significant proposals aimed at bolstering the state’s infrastructure, governance transparency, and public services. These decisions spanned multiple sectors, including statistics, energy, and transportation.
Data Strengthening Scheme for “Prosperity from Statistics” Approved
In a forward-thinking initiative, the Council approved the launch of the “Data Strengthening Scheme” under the Planning, Economic and Statistics Department. The scheme aims to enhance the accessibility and analysis of statistical data across all departments, enabling improved planning, transparency, and decision-making.
By centralizing and analyzing real-time data, the government expects to:
- Improve inter-departmental data sharing
- Enable timely formulation of evidence-based policies
- Boost administrative efficiency
- Increase transparency and accountability
- Facilitate access to researchers and planners
- Inspire investor confidence through open data initiatives
Officials stated that this initiative is a strategic step toward achieving the government’s vision of “Prosperity from Statistics.”

Renovation of Gandhi Sagar and Rana Pratap Sagar Hydroelectric Projects
The Council gave its nod to the renovation and modernization of two key hydroelectric power facilities in the state.
For the Gandhi Sagar Hydroelectric Power House (5×23 MW), a revised estimate of ₹464.55 crore was approved.
For the Rana Pratap Sagar Hydroelectric Power House (4×43 MW), the government sanctioned an expenditure of ₹573.76 crore.
The cost will be shared equally (50:50) between Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Madhya Pradesh’s contribution of ₹127.06 crore will be used primarily for replacing outdated machinery.
These upgrades are expected to significantly boost power generation capacity and sustainability, with a projected utility span of at least 40 years. Each state’s power generation companies will oversee the implementation and share cost updates periodically to maintain transparency.
Motor Vehicle Tax Exemption in Major Trade Fairs
In a move to encourage trade and boost the automobile sector, the Cabinet ratified Transport Department notifications granting 50% lifetime motor vehicle tax exemption on vehicle sales during two upcoming trade fairs.
Vikramotsav Trade Fair 2025, Ujjain
- Non-transport and light transport vehicles sold during the fair will enjoy 50% exemption.
- Permanent registration must be completed at RTO Ujjain to avail of the benefit.
Out-of-town dealers must obtain a business certificate from RTO Ujjain and be physically present at the fairgrounds.
Gwalior Trade Fair 2024–25
- Similar terms were approved for the Gwalior Trade Fair.
- The exemption is applicable to eligible vehicles upon permanent registration at RTO Gwalior.
- External dealers are required to be certified by RTO Gwalior and maintain a presence at the fair.
These decisions are expected to stimulate local economic activity and attract more visitors and investors to both fairs.
