Assam Police has organised the biggest ever outreach campaign on Child Rights in schools & communities across the State. The initiative is part of the celebration for Child Rights Week 2023 by the Assam Police Sishu Mitra Programme. Under this, Assam Police aimed to reach one lakh children.

On 15th November, several programs were organised where the SPs, SDPOs, and OCs of Assam Police met children across Assam to spread awareness on child rights, safety, and security. The officers interacted with the children and discussed child marriage, child labour, trafficking, child sexual abuse, and cyber security.

Talking about this outreach initiative Special DGP, Assam Police Mr. Harmeet Singh said that sensitization on child rights and protection issues is the key to preventing crimes against children. If children are aware, they are empowered to protect themselves from all forms of harassment and violence. Let it be noted that Child Rights Week is celebrated nationally from November 14 to 20.
