Delhi: The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Nalanda University (NU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in science-driven sustainable development, technology deployment, rural transformation, skill development, and scientific outreach.
The agreement was signed in Delhi with the aim of combining CSIR’s indigenous scientific innovations with Nalanda University’s international academic network to create scalable models of community-focused development.
The partnership is expected to support the deployment of advanced technologies in areas such as:
- Sustainable development
- Rural development
- Environmental protection
- Skill enhancement
- Scientific knowledge sharing

He said that while developing new technologies is essential, identifying technologies that can directly address societal needs is equally important.
Under the partnership with CSIR, Nalanda University aims to promote sustainable development initiatives in and around the Nalanda region through technology-based solutions.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Rudrendra Tandon, Secretary (East), Ministry of External Affairs, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision is to establish Nalanda University as a world-class international institution with strong global academic and research partnerships.
He stated that collaboration with CSIR, India’s leading scientific research organisation, will play a significant role in achieving this vision.

A major feature of the MoU is the proposed establishment of a CSIR Technology Gallery at the Nalanda University campus.
The gallery will showcase indigenous technologies developed by various CSIR laboratories for:

The initiative aims to increase awareness about India’s scientific capabilities and encourage wider adoption of innovative solutions.
