Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a state-of-the-art Linear Accelerator (Radiotherapy Machine) at the Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Institute in Varanasi. The facility has been developed under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID).
Strengthening Cancer Treatment Infrastructure
The Linear Accelerator, worth ₹26.42 crore, will significantly enhance the institute’s capacity for cancer treatment. The advanced radiotherapy equipment enables more precise, targeted, and effective therapy, offering improved outcomes for patients in the region.
Senior POWERGRID officials, including Independent Director Shiv Tapasya Paswan and Executive Director (NR-III) Yugesh Kumar Dixit, were present at the event alongside other dignitaries.

CSR Projects Worth ₹240 Crore in Uttar Pradesh
POWERGRID’s contribution to the healthcare sector in Varanasi is part of its broader CSR efforts across Uttar Pradesh. The company is currently implementing CSR initiatives valued at approximately ₹240 crore in the state, focusing on healthcare, education, rural development, and infrastructure.
