Odisha: India’s indigenous Suryastra Rocket Launcher has successfully completed major firing evaluations at the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, Odisha. The trials were conducted by Pune-based defence company and demonstrated precision strike capability at ranges of 150 km and 300 km. 

The successful validation is being seen as a major boost for India’s long-range artillery and “Make in India” defence manufacturing efforts.

  • The tests took place on May 18 and 19, 2026 at the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha.
  • Two rocket variants were evaluated:
    • 150 km range rocket
    • 300 km range precision rocket
  • The trials reportedly achieved high accuracy with very low Circular Error Probable (CEP).
  • The launcher demonstrated deep-strike capability against long-distance targets.
