The newly constituted National Capital Civil Service Authority, constituted to recommend transfers and postings of bureaucrats in the city, is likely to decide the fate of 10 IAS officers soon, who have been transferred to the capital recently by the Union Home ministry.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the chairman of the Authority, Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, member, and Principal Secretary (Home) Ashwani Kumar, who is the member secretary, would take the final decision on the posting of these officers.
Till now the transfers and deployment of officers posted in the capital used to be decided by the Lieutenant Governor. The new authority, however, was constituted as per the recent ordinance promulgated by the Centre to overturn the Supreme Court’s May 11 judgment which had placed the executive control over city’s bureaucrats with the elected dispensation.
While the MHA moved 10 officers to Delhi through an order last week, it also transferred seven bureaucrats from the capital to other states and union territories. The officers transferred out of Delhi include 2003-batch IAS officer Vivek Pandey, who served as secretary in IT department, 2004-batch officer Garima Gupta, who was posted as Chief Executive Officer in Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board, 2004-batch Sanjay Goel, secretary in Urban Development department, and 2015-batch Rahul Singh, who had the charge of Special Commissioner in the Food and Civil Supplies department.
