NHPC Celebrates 79th Independence Day with Patriotic Zeal at Corporate Office, Faridabad

Faridabad: NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydropower company, celebrated the 79th Independence Day of India with immense patriotic fervour and enthusiasm on 15th August 2025 at its Corporate Office in Faridabad. The celebrations commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by R.P. Goyal, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) & Director (Finance), NHPC, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.

The event witnessed the presence of senior NHPC officials including Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel), Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects), Suprakash Adhikari, Director (Technical), and Santosh Kumar, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO). Employees and their family members gathered in large numbers to participate in the occasion, reflecting a strong sense of unity and national pride.

CMD Highlights NHPC’s Key Achievements and Green Energy Vision

Addressing the gathering, R.P. Goyal extended heartfelt Independence Day greetings to the entire NHPC family. He emphasized the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by the brave freedom fighters who fought valiantly for the country’s independence.

Goyal also took the opportunity to highlight NHPC’s recent accomplishments, particularly:

  • Commissioning of the 800 MW Parbati-II Hydroelectric Project
  • Ongoing progress at the Subansiri Lower and Pakal Dul projects
  • Record-breaking daily and monthly power generation figures

He further elaborated on NHPC’s proactive efforts in renewable energy, pointing out its expanding ventures in pumped storage systems, solar energy, and green hydrogen. These initiatives align with the Government of India’s targets for achieving sustainability and energy security.

Pan-India Participation via Live Webcast

In a demonstration of inclusiveness and connectivity, NHPC ensured participation from its regional offices, power stations, projects, and units across the country through a live webcast of the celebrations. This allowed employees nationwide to be part of the event in real-time, fostering a shared sense of pride and commitment to the organization and the nation.
