New Delhi: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reaffirmed the Delhi government’s commitment to empowering the city’s youth through skill development, during her address at the ‘Samarth Bharat–Vichar Goshti’ programme held at the NDMC Convention Centre on Thursday.

CM Gupta highlighted that a skilled younger generation is crucial for shaping a strong and self-reliant India. “The vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) is a shared responsibility of every citizen. Our country’s population of 140 crore is our greatest asset. If this strength is connected with the right skills and opportunities, many of the nation’s challenges can be resolved naturally,” she said.

Skill Training for Juvenile Offenders

Emphasizing the government’s proactive approach, she stated that several initiatives are being launched to connect young people with skill development opportunities. Special focus is being placed on children involved in juvenile offences, with dedicated centres being established where skill training will be made mandatory, ensuring that every young person gets the tools to contribute meaningfully to society.

Strengthening Workforce and Economic Growth

The Chief Minister’s remarks came amid growing recognition of the importance of skill development in driving economic growth and employment opportunities. By equipping youth with practical skills, the Delhi government aims to strengthen both local industries and the broader workforce ecosystem, enabling young citizens to pursue meaningful careers.

Inclusive Approach to Youth Empowerment

CM Gupta called upon all stakeholders to actively participate in building a skilled generation, underlining that youth empowerment is essential for achieving long-term national development. The initiative is expected to benefit thousands of young individuals across Delhi, preparing them to meet the demands of an increasingly competitive and technology-driven economy.

Through initiatives like these, Delhi is not only focusing on traditional education but also ensuring that young people are job-ready and equipped with practical, market-relevant skills. The government’s efforts aim to create an inclusive environment where every youth, irrespective of background, has access to training and opportunities that can shape their future.
