In a major breakthrough for law enforcement and inter-state coordination, the Delhi Police Crime Branch achieved a significant success early Friday when four of Bihar’s most wanted gangsters were killed in a high-intensity encounter in Rohini. The operation was led by IPS officer Mr. Sanjeev Yadav, who recently returned to Delhi after a stint in Jammu and Kashmir.
A Planned Operation Based on Precise Intelligence
According to Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Mr. Surender Kumar, the encounter was a result of coordinated action between the Delhi Police Crime Branch and Bihar Police following a credible intelligence tip-off.
The joint team, headed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Mr. Sanjeev Yadav, laid a strategic trap between Dr. Ambedkar Chowk and Pansali Chowk in Rohini at around 2.20 a.m.
As police teams surrounded the area, the gangsters opened fire and tried to escape in different directions. The police retaliated, resulting in a brief exchange of gunfire during which all four criminals sustained bullet injuries. They were rushed to Dr. Ambedkar Hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.
The Fallen Gangsters and Their Criminal Background
The slain criminals were identified as Mr. Ranjan Pathak, Mr. Bimlesh Mahto, Mr. Manish Pathak, and Mr. Aman Thakur.
Investigations have revealed that they were part of the notorious “Sigma and Company” gang operating out of Bihar, known for a series of violent crimes, extortion, and contract killings. Mr. Ranjan Pathak was the gang leader and one of Bihar’s most wanted fugitives.
A Commendable Feat for Delhi Police and Inter-State Coordination
Officials have hailed this encounter as a major success, emphasizing the growing efficiency of coordinated policing efforts between states. The quick action prevented possible violent incidents in the capital and reinforced Delhi Police’s commitment to maintaining law and order.
Mr. Sanjeev Yadav’s Return to the Spotlight
Mr. Sanjeev Yadav, well-known for his leadership in the Batla House encounter — which later inspired a Bollywood film where his role was portrayed by actor Akshay Kumar — has once again demonstrated tactical excellence and courage in the field.
After a three-year tenure in Jammu and Kashmir, where he was not assigned to key operational posts, Mr. Yadav’s return to Delhi under the AGMUT cadre appears to have immediately revitalized frontline policing in the capital.
Reinforcing Governance Through Efficient Policing
The encounter underscores the Delhi government’s broader objective of strengthening internal security through efficient law enforcement and responsive governance. It also highlights the importance of data-driven policing, inter-agency coordination, and leadership accountability in ensuring public safety.
A Step Toward Safer Delhi
Authorities believe that the successful operation not only neutralizes a major criminal threat but also sends a strong deterrent message to organized crime networks attempting to infiltrate the capital.
The Delhi Police’s continued emphasis on precision intelligence, quick response mechanisms, and coordination with other state forces exemplifies the city’s evolving law enforcement model under capable leadership.
