Delhi is set to celebrate the first anniversary of the BJP-led government in office with a series of development initiatives and public projects aimed at improving transport, health, tourism, and citizen services. The anniversary events will run from February 8 to February 20, highlighting the government’s vision of a modern and “Viksit Delhi.”
500 Electric Buses Flagged Off to Boost Public Transport
The celebrations will kick off with the launch of 500 new electric buses across the national capital, joining Delhi’s existing fleet of over 3,500 electric vehicles. The initiative is designed to enhance last-mile connectivity, promote greener transportation, and upgrade public transport facilities across the city.

Maiden River Cruise Service on Yamuna
Delhi will also witness the launch of its first-ever river cruise service along the Yamuna. The hour-long leisure cruise will operate between Sonia Vihar and Jagatpur, offering scenic views of the city skyline and iconic landmarks. Officials said the initiative aims to boost tourism and provide a unique recreational experience for residents and visitors.
Smart Travel Cards and Citizen-Friendly Initiatives
Alongside transport and tourism projects, the government will introduce a unified “one card” travel system for commuters, streamlining access to public transport services. A range of other initiatives across healthcare, education, and citizen services are also planned to reinforce the government’s people-focused governance.

The government has indicated that new healthcare centres, educational improvements, and tourism promotion projects will also be unveiled during the celebrations.
