Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta conducted a comprehensive review of ongoing Delhi Metro Rail Corporation projects along with major road and flyover developments, emphasizing that a modern and efficient public transport system remains a top priority for the Delhi government.
Senior officials, including the Managing Director of DMRC, attended the meeting to assess progress and future plans aimed at improving connectivity across Delhi.
Major Metro Expansion Underway
Officials informed that a total of 104.45 km of metro network with 81 stations is currently under construction. Several key metro corridors are expected to be completed by December this year, including:
- Krishna Park Extension to Deepali Chowk
- Majlis Park to Derawal Nagar
- Derawal Nagar to RK Ashram
- Tughlakabad to Sangam Vihar
- Sangam Vihar to Saket G Block
- Saket G Block to Aerocity
These expansions are expected to significantly enhance urban mobility and reduce travel time across the capital.

Proposal for 19.2 km Elevated Road Along Yamuna
The Delhi government has proposed a 19.2-km elevated road along the Yamuna River, stretching from Wazirabad to DND. The project will be developed in three phases:
- Surghat to ISBT
- ISBT to Sarai Kale Khan
- Sarai Kale Khan to DND
This corridor is aimed at easing traffic congestion and providing a seamless travel route across key parts of the city.
Flyover Projects to Improve Traffic Flow
In addition to metro expansion, several important flyover projects are progressing rapidly:
- A 2.16-km double-decker flyover from Azadpur to Tripolia Chowk is around 73% complete, with a cost of ₹264.27 crore
- A 1.4-km flyover from Yamuna Vihar to Bhajanpura is 85% complete
- A 2.48-km six-lane flyover from Saket G Block to Sangam Vihar is under construction
Additionally, a proposal for a 2.62-km flyover from Tripolia Gate to Barfkhana has been prepared.
Focus on Faster, Cleaner, and Smarter Commute
CM Rekha Gupta highlighted that expanding metro connectivity along with integrated road infrastructure will strengthen Delhi’s transport backbone. She stated that these developments will make commuting faster, reduce traffic congestion, and help lower pollution levels in the city.
The government aims to create a seamless and sustainable urban transport system that meets the growing demands of the capital’s population.
