New Delhi: In a major push towards transparency, efficiency, and technology-led governance, the Ministry of Railways has introduced sweeping reforms in its recruitment process for Group “C” and Level-1 posts. The overhaul is aimed at modernizing and streamlining the selection process while reducing fraud and enhancing candidate experience.
One-Time Registration (OTR) System for Seamless Applications
A central highlight of the reform agenda is the One-Time Registration (OTR) system. Designed to simplify the application journey for candidates, the OTR allows aspirants to register once and apply for multiple recruitments across the railway network without re-entering their credentials each time.
This move not only reduces duplication of efforts but also eliminates errors and ensures that applicants maintain a consistent digital profile throughout different recruitment cycles.
Annual Recruitment Calendar Introduced for Group “C” and Level-1 Posts
For the first time, the Ministry has implemented an Annual Recruitment Calendar starting from 2024, covering Group “C” and Level-1 categories. The calendar lays out a clear roadmap from notification to the final examination dates, bringing transparency and predictability to the process.
Candidates now have better visibility into timelines, helping them prepare systematically and reducing anxiety caused by delays or unclear scheduling.
Fraud Prevention and Candidate Identity Verification Strengthened
Addressing long-standing concerns around examination malpractices and impersonation, the Railway Ministry has introduced a set of technology-driven safeguards, including:
- Aadhaar-based e-KYC
- Real-time facial recognition
- Photo validation during exams
These biometric measures ensure the authenticity of candidates and prevent any unauthorized participation in the recruitment process.
Expanded Exam Infrastructure to Handle High Volumes
To support large-scale recruitment drives, the Ministry has significantly expanded its exam center capacity:
- Over 325 exam centers are now operational on a daily basis
- Each center accommodates approximately 350 candidates per session
This enhanced infrastructure ensures smoother exam management and allows timely conduct of recruitment tests for lakhs of aspirants across the country.
A Step Towards Digital Transformation and Trust-Building
With these reforms, the Railway Ministry is signaling its commitment to digital governance, fairness, and candidate empowerment. By focusing on efficiency, security, and convenience, the recruitment system is being transformed into a more accessible and accountable framework.
The Ministry’s proactive steps reflect the broader objectives of the Digital India Mission, aiming to integrate cutting-edge technology into public services.
