Dehradun, Uttarakhand: 2009 batch IAS officer and District Magistrate of Dehradun, Mr Savin Bansal, known for his continuous efforts against the land mafia in Dehradun, reaffirmed his commitment to stopping property occupations by illegal entities. In a recent public hearing, Bansal emphasized that both the Revenue Department and Police are accountable for handling land and property disputes, with a call for strict action.
During the hearing on Monday, two prominent complaints were addressed. Pushpa Devi from Nathanpur reported an assault after her ancestral property was illegally occupied. District Magistrate Bansal immediately summoned the report, reviewed prior orders, and directed the Tehsildar and the Nehru Colony Police Station Head to ensure her swift possession.
Similarly, Satpal Singh from Doiwala accused land mafia of occupying his land while his case remained pending in the ACGM Court. Bansal called upon the Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority to expedite the case resolution.
The public hearing, lasting four hours, saw the resolution of 174 complaints, with many cases being addressed on the spot. The event was attended by key officials, including Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah, Superintendent of Police Mukesh Thakur, and others.
Additionally, DM Bansal addressed a case where a woman from Jhajra, facing rental non-payment and threats from a tenant, was assisted by a letter being sent to the Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority for legal action. In another instance, a poverty-stricken mother seeking funds for her daughter’s MCA education was helped by arranging financial support through the Nanda Sunanda Yojana.
