DMRC Marks National Energy Conservation Day 2025, Launches Sustainable Energy Policy to Boost Green Initiatives

New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) marked National Energy Conservation Day–2025 with a strong reaffirmation of its commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. On the occasion, DMRC unveiled its new Sustainable Energy Policy, aimed at institutionalising best practices in energy management and fostering a culture of conservation across the organisation.

Sustainable Energy Policy Launched

The newly introduced policy focuses on embedding energy-efficient operations, responsible resource use, and long-term environmental stewardship into DMRC’s day-to-day functioning. The initiative is designed to encourage employees at all levels to adopt sustainable practices and contribute actively to reducing the organisation’s carbon footprint.

Stations and Employees Honoured for Excellence

To recognise outstanding contributions in energy conservation, Dr. Vikas Kumar, Managing Director, DMRC, felicitated teams from three metro stations that received recognition from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). These teams were awarded Certificates of Achievement for their dedicated efforts in improving energy performance.

In addition, several DMRC employees were honoured with Energy Conservation Excellence Awards for achieving significant energy savings through efficient operation and maintenance of systems. The awards aim to motivate employees across the network to innovate further and enhance energy performance.

Solar Partners Felicitated for Green Initiatives

DMRC also acknowledged the role of its long-standing solar power partners in advancing renewable energy adoption. Solar developers associated with DMRC for nearly a decade were felicitated for their collaborative efforts to maximise solar power generation.

Under the joint initiative ‘SAHYOG’, launched by DMRC in collaboration with 14 solar developers to assess plant health and improve generation efficiency:

  • M/s Purshotam Rays Power Pvt. Ltd. & Purshotam Green Pvt. Ltd. secured the First Prize for achieving a 19.7% increase in Capacity Utilisation Factor (CUF) compared to the previous year.
  • M/s Azure Power Saturn Pvt. Ltd. won the Second Prize for recording a 12.12% improvement in CUF over the same period.

Strengthening Commitment to Sustainable Urban Mobility

Through continuous adoption of energy-efficient technologies, expansion of renewable energy usage, and employee-driven conservation initiatives, DMRC continues to set benchmarks in sustainable urban transportation. The celebrations highlighted DMRC’s ongoing efforts to balance operational excellence with environmental responsibility.
