To convey India’s first female IPS officer’s legacy on the big screen, Dream Slate Pictures is set to release a biopic on Dr. Kiran Bedi (1972 batch retd IPS), titled Bedi: The Name You Know. The Story You Don’t, by 2025. This biopic shall delve into the untold stories of Dr. Bedi’s profound life in India’s prime police service.
Dr. Bedi is recognized for her groundbreaking work as India’s first female IPS officer and a career studded with momentous achievements like spearheading a successful anti-drug campaign in Delhi and initiating reforms in the Tihar Jail. These accomplishments led to her receiving the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1994. After retiring from the IPS, she transitioned into politics for a brief period and also served as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry from 2016 to 2021.
