Dr. Subhransu Sekhar Acharya has taken on the role of Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) at the National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC) starting May 2. Prior to this position, Dr. Acharya served as the Chief General Manager at the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI). With a Ph.D. in Management, M.Sc. in Science, MBA, and certification as an Associate of the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (CAIIB), Dr. Acharya brings over three decades of experience in various aspects of MSME financing and development.
His expertise includes credit, SME rating, risk management, bills financing, new product development, business planning, entrepreneurship development, innovation financing, micro-finance, and start-up mentoring. Dr. Acharya was a British Chevening scholar, studying ‘Sustainable Development’ at the University of Bradford, UK. He also played a crucial role as a founding member of India’s first SME Rating Agency and served as CEO of India SME Technology Services Ltd (ISTSL), a company supported by SIDBI and four other commercial banks.
