The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has appointed Dr. Sunil Gupta, a 2007-batch IPS officer of the Jammu & Kashmir–AGMUT cadre, as Deputy Director/Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D).
The appointment has been made on a deputation basis, as per official orders issued by the MHA. Dr. Gupta is known for his professional competence and diverse experience in policing and administration across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The BPR&D, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, plays a key role in modernizing policing in India through research, training, and the development of best practices. With this new role, Dr. Gupta is expected to contribute to the advancement of policy planning, police reforms, and capacity building at the national level.
His appointment is seen as a recognition of his service and expertise, and is expected to strengthen the ongoing reform and innovation efforts within India’s policing system.
