On February 25th, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) organised a DRDO-Industry Meet during the Maharashtra MSME Defence Expo 2024 at Pune. This seminar aimed to enhance cooperation and synergy with several industries (mainly the MSMEs & start-ups) and inform and update them about various industry-oriented initiatives and policies of the DRDO. During this event, the DRDO gave away 23 Licensing Agreements for Transfer of Technology (LATOT) to 22 industries, signifying a paradigm shift in the PPP model in the defence sector.
The fruitful event unfolded under the coveted presence of the Secretary of the Department of Defence (R&D) and Chairman of DRDO, Dr. Samir V Kamat, and other eminent dignitaries. During the meet, technologies transferred covered the domains of electronics, laser technology, armaments, life sciences, materials science, combat vehicles, naval systems and aeronautics.
In the meeting, the DRDO handed over the phenomenal SAMAR (System for Advance Manufacturing Assessment and Rating – a benchmark to measure the competency of defence manufacturing enterprises) assessment certificates – to its nine new Industry Partners.
