Days after Gyanesh Kumar (Retd IAS: 1988: KL) took over as the Chief Election Commissioner, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced a two-day conference for Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) from various States and Union Territories. The event is scheduled for March 4-5, 2025, at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM) in New Delhi.
The three-member ECI panel, led by CEC Gyanesh Kumar, also includes Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu (Retd IAS: 1988: UD) and Vivek Joshi (Retd IAS: 1989: HY). The panel will outline the vision and strategies for strengthening the electoral process during the conference.
Over 100 key officials involved in election management, including CEOs, District Election Officers (DEOs), and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), will participate in discussions aimed at improving electoral administration. CEOs have been directed to nominate a DEO and an ERO from their respective states to attend the event.
The conference will focus on crucial themes such as technological advancements in elections, the statutory responsibilities of various authorities, communication strategies, social media engagement, and voter outreach initiatives. The sessions will provide a platform for officials to share insights, discuss challenges, and enhance the electoral framework in India.
