The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday carried out searches at five locations across Hyderabad in connection with land transactions linked to a case involving senior IAS officer Mr. D Amoy Kumar (2013 batch). The searches were conducted on individuals named in a case registered at Maheswaram police station, including Mr. Munawar Khan, Ms. Khaderunnisa, and others.
Several locations in Hyderabad’s old city were among the premises searched by ED teams. These raids are part of the ongoing probe that began after Mr. Kumar was questioned by the agency in October 2024. Currently posted in the Animal Husbandry Department, Mr. Kumar previously served as the District Collector of Rangareddy district when the alleged land dispute took place.
Although Mr. Kumar has not been formally named as an accused, ED officials are scrutinizing his role, particularly concerning the alleged misuse of the Dharani portal and the registration of properties listed under prohibitory categories.
The investigation stems from an FIR filed by Maheswaram police last year following a private complaint lodged by Mr. Dastagir Shareef, a resident of Mehdipatnam. The complaint accused several individuals of fraudulently registering and mutating disputed property, despite the land being listed under the 22-A prohibitory category of the Telangana Registration of Stamps Act.
Among those named in the FIR are Ms. Khaderunnisa, Mr. Mohammed Munawar Khan, Ms. RP Jyothi (MRO/Joint Sub-Registrar of Maheswaram), Mr. Bobbili Damodar Reddy, Mr. Bobbili Viswanath Reddy, Mr. N Santosh Kumar, and Mr. Kondapally Sridhar Reddy.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly conspired with public servants to manipulate revenue records and illegally issue passbooks and sale deeds for about 42 acres and 33 guntas of land in Nagaram village. Sources said the ED is probing the money laundering angle related to the fraudulent transactions.
