EIL CMD Atul Gupta Highlights India-Japan Collaboration for Semiconductor Growth at SEMICON India 2026

New Delhi: Engineers India Limited (EIL) Chairman and Managing Director (C&MD) Atul Gupta participated in the India–Japan Country Roundtable held on the sidelines of SEMICON India 2026, highlighting opportunities for deeper collaboration between Indian and Japanese companies across the semiconductor and electronics value chain.

Gupta highlighted India’s focus on developing indigenous supply chains and a strong manufacturing ecosystem, while creating opportunities for global companies looking to invest in the country.

Atul Gupta Highlights India-Japan Semiconductor Cooperation

During the roundtable, Gupta emphasised the scope for stronger cooperation between Indian and Japanese companies in the semiconductor and electronics sectors.

Japanese companies have been an integral part of EIL’s global supply-chain ecosystem and have contributed to several projects in India as well as overseas.

Building on this long-standing engagement, Gupta highlighted the potential for further collaboration as India works to strengthen domestic manufacturing and reduce supply-chain dependencies.

EIL to Support India Semiconductor Mission Investments

Gupta also highlighted EIL’s engineering and project-management capabilities to support Indian and Japanese companies pursuing investments under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM).

Potential areas of collaboration include:

  • OSAT/ATMP facilities
  • Semiconductor fabrication plants
  • Speciality chemicals and gases
  • Associated semiconductor infrastructure
  • Engineering and project-management support for new investments

EIL aims to leverage its technical and project execution capabilities to support companies involved in developing India’s semiconductor ecosystem.

Focus on Indigenous Supply Chains and Manufacturing

Gupta emphasised the importance of developing resilient local supply chains and strengthening India’s manufacturing capabilities.

He called for greater collaboration among industry players, technology providers and other stakeholders to build project execution capabilities and accelerate the development of the country’s semiconductor ecosystem.

Such collaboration can also support greater localisation and create opportunities for global companies participating in India’s growing electronics and semiconductor manufacturing sector.

India-Japan Industry Engagement

The remarks were well received by participating Indian and Japanese companies, along with senior government officials from various ministries.

EIL said it looks forward to deepening its engagement with Indian and Japanese industry by leveraging its engineering and project-management expertise.

The company aims to support localisation, technology deployment and indigenous project execution, while contributing to stronger cooperation between India and Japan in the semiconductor and electronics sectors.

  • Deeper collaboration between Indian and Japanese companies across the semiconductor and electronics value chain.

  • Developing OSAT/ATMP and semiconductor fab projects.
  • Supporting speciality chemicals, gases and associated infrastructure.
  • Strengthening cooperation among industry, technology providers and other stakeholders.
  • Enhancing project execution capabilities and localisation.
