The Election Commission of India (ECI) has awarded the ‘Exemplary Leadership Certificate’ to four Chief Secretaries and five Directors General of Police (DGPs) for their outstanding performance in electoral management. The recognition was conferred at a National Voters’ Day function held in New Delhi on January 25, 2025, in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu, who was the Chief Guest.
The Chief Secretaries awarded were:
- Mr. Atal Dulloo (Jammu & Kashmir), a 1988-batch AGMUT cadre IAS officer;
- Ms. Usha Sharma (Rajasthan), a 1985-batch IAS officer;
- Mr. TVSN Prasad (Haryana), a 1988-batch IAS officer;
- Mr. Amitabh Jain (Chhattisgarh), a 1989-batch IAS officer.
The DGPs honoured for their exemplary service were:
- Mr. Shankar Jiwal (Tamil Nadu), a 1990-batch IPS officer;
- Mr. GP Singh (Assam), a 1991-batch IPS officer;
- Mr. Prashant Kumar (Uttar Pradesh), a 1990-batch IPS officer;
- Mr. Sudhir Saxena (Madhya Pradesh), a 1987-batch IPS officer;
- Mr. RR Swain (Jammu & Kashmir), a 1991-batch IPS officer;
This recognition highlights their significant contributions to ensuring free, fair, and efficient elections, reinforcing the ECI’s commitment to electoral integrity and governance excellence.
