Hyderabad: The 1999 batch senior IAS officer KS Sreenivasa Raju, belonging to the Andhra Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as Principal Secretary in the Telangana Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). The former Executive Officer of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), who took voluntary retirement from service in 2024, will now oversee key infrastructure and project-related matters under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s administration.
Mr Raju was appointed as an Advisor to the Chief Minister shortly after his retirement, marking his formal re-entry into the Telangana government’s top administrative team. His appointment comes amid the state’s focus on accelerating infrastructure development and ensuring effective project implementation.
A seasoned bureaucrat, Mr Raju previously served as the Principal Secretary of the Roads and Buildings Department in Telangana for four years. He had joined the Telangana government in 2019 on inter-State cadre deputation after Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy became Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
Following the expiry of his deputation term in March 2024, Mr Raju sought an extension by approaching the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT). However, with no approval granted, he was compelled to return to the Andhra Pradesh cadre. Unable to secure the coveted post of TTD Executive Officer despite considerable effort, Raju eventually opted for voluntary retirement, which was approved by the Centre in June 2024.
His latest appointment as Principal Secretary in the Telangana CMO is seen as a strategic move by the Revanth Reddy government to leverage his administrative experience and expertise in handling large-scale infrastructure projects.
