Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh: In a landmark decision aimed at boosting India’s domestic electronics ecosystem, the Government of India has approved the establishment of a ₹417 crore Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. The project is expected to generate 15,000 jobs, attract ₹2,500 crore in investments, and significantly enhance India’s global competitiveness in electronics production.
Project Overview: Plug-and-Play for Startups and MSMEs
The approved EMC 2.0 project will be developed by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) and will cover over 200 acres of industrial land. According to officials, the project will facilitate manufacturing of consumer electronics, automotive and industrial electronics, medical devices, communication equipment, and computer hardware. Startups and MSMEs will benefit from plug-and-play infrastructure and shared utilities.
The cluster will include:
- Standard factory sheds
- Electricity and water provisioning
- Sewage treatment systems
- Hostels for workers
- Skill development centres
- Health facilities
These features are aimed at reducing logistics costs and accelerating production cycles for businesses of all scales.
Statement by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw
Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who reviewed the project alongside Minister of State Jitin Prasada, said:
“The project will lead to the creation of world-class infrastructure and generate 15,000 jobs. It is fully in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting manufacturing in India. It reflects the government’s sharp focus on job creation and building a Viksit Bharat.”
Strategic Location Boosts Logistics and Investment Potential
The EMC will benefit from its prime location near:
- Yamuna Expressway
- Eastern Peripheral Expressway
- Palwal–Khurja Expressway
- Jewar International Airport
- Railway stations and transport hubs
It is also surrounded by major industrial zones like the Medical Device Park, MSME & Apparel Park, and Aviation Hub, positioning the cluster as a central manufacturing hub in North India.
