New Delhi: Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of GAIL (India) Limited, has been honoured with the Mahatma Award 2025 for Leadership in Business Sustainability and Social Impact. The prestigious recognition celebrates his visionary leadership, strategic foresight, and unwavering commitment to sustainable and inclusive growth in the energy sector.

The award was conferred by Dr Kiran Bedi, India’s first woman IPS officer and former Lt. Governor of Puducherry, alongside Amit Sachdeva, Gandhian, lawyer, and founder of the Mahatma Awards — also known as the “CSR Man of India.”

Under Gupta’s stewardship, GAIL has significantly advanced its sustainability agenda, expanding its role as a responsible energy leader while also accelerating impactful social initiatives.

GAIL’s focus on business ethics, clean energy transition, and sustainable practices has positioned it as a role model in India’s public sector. The Mahatma Award highlights Gupta’s ability to balance growth with purpose, making a tangible difference across environmental and social spheres.
