GAIL Q2 Profit Surges to Rs 2,217 Crore on Rs 35,031 Crore Revenue, Driven by Gas and Petrochemical Expansion

New Delhi: GAIL (India) Limited, the country’s largest natural gas company, reported a robust performance for the second quarter of FY 2025-26, posting a Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs 2,217 crore, up from Rs 1,886 crore in Q1 FY26. The sequential growth highlights improved earnings and operational resilience amid a competitive energy market.

Revenue and Profit Trends

Revenue from operations during Q2 FY26 stood at Rs 35,031 crore, marginally higher than Rs 34,792 crore in Q1 FY26. Profit Before Tax (PBT) rose to Rs 2,823 crore, compared to Rs 2,533 crore in the previous quarter. For the half-year ended September 30, 2025 (H1 FY26), GAIL’s consolidated revenue from operations reached Rs 71,086 crore, up from Rs 68,803 crore in H1 FY25, while consolidated PAT (excluding non-controlling interest) stood at Rs 4,342 crore, against Rs 5,876 crore in the corresponding period last year.

Operational Highlights

GAIL’s natural gas transmission volume in Q2 FY26 was recorded at 123.59 MMSCMD, while gas marketing volume stood at 105.49 MMSCMD. Sales of liquid hydrocarbons (LHC) and polymers rose to 223 TMT and 209 TMT, respectively, showing steady growth compared to 198 TMT and 177 TMT in Q1 FY26.

Key Projects and Capex

GAIL Chairman and Managing Director Sandeep Kumar Gupta highlighted major developments, including the dedication of the Srikakulam-Angul Pipeline (SAPL) to the nation by the Prime Minister. The company also received authorization from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) to construct the Vijaipur-Bina Pipeline, with a capital expenditure of around Rs 450 crore, expected to be completed within three years. During Q2 FY26, GAIL’s capital expenditure totaled Rs 1,662 crore, mainly allocated to pipeline and petrochemical projects, bringing H1 FY26 capex to Rs 4,838 crore.

The sequential increase in profit and revenue reflects GAIL’s strategic operational initiatives, expansion of pipeline infrastructure, and growth in petrochemical and polymer segments, positioning the company for steady growth in the coming quarters.
