Ghaziabad: In a historic first, an all-women police team in Ghaziabad carried out their maiden encounter late Monday night, resulting in the arrest of a notorious criminal after a brief chase and exchange of gunfire near Lohia Nagar.
The accused, Jitendra, son of Nandkishore, a resident of Vijay Nagar’s Sector-9 and a known history-sheeter with over 10 registered cases of theft and robbery, was apprehended following a tip-off during a routine night checking operation.
Encounter Details: Chase, Gunfire, and Arrest
Led by SHO of the Mahila Thana, Ritu Tyagi, along with two women sub-inspectors, Vineeta Yadav and Bhuvneshwari Singh, and two women head constables, Mamata Kumari and Neetu Singh, the female officers intercepted Jitendra who was riding a scooter near Meerut Road.
Despite police signals to stop, Jitendra tried to flee, lost control of his scooter, and fell. Attempting to escape on foot, he fired a country-made pistol at the female officers. The team retaliated with gunfire, injuring him in the leg before subduing and arresting him.
The injured criminal was then carried by the female officers to a police vehicle and admitted to District MMG Ghaziabad Hospital for treatment.
