The Government of India has approved the prosecution of Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, Revenue Secretary, for alleged involvement in the arms license case.
In an official statement, the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), under the Ministry of Personnel & Training, informed Vishal Sharma, Deputy Solicitor General of India, about the sanction for prosecution in connection with a case registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in 2018.
The communique stated, “An order granting sanction for prosecution against Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, IAS, in CBI case RCCHGO51201850007, under Section 6 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2006, for alleged offences under Section 5(2) of the same Act, was issued on November 28, 2004, with the approval of the competent authority.”
This development follows an inquiry into alleged irregularities in issuing arms licenses, a matter investigated by the CBI since 2018.
