Citing the possibility of a conspiracy, 270 prominent civil society members, including retired judges, bureaucrats, former ambassadors, a former RAW chief, a former NIA director and veterans, have written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, regarding the train accident in Balasore, Odisha on June 3.
They have raised concerns over efforts to undermine India’s national security and progress in the letter, mentioning that even in the 90s and early 2000s, such accidents happened on the railway tracks due to the tampering by anti-national forces.
The signatories speculated that the triple train crash was a deliberate human interference and an act of sabotage at the behest of terrorist outfits. This accident led to 288 people being killed and more than a thousand people injured.
The signatories have demanded the removal of illegal encroachments along the railway tracks, including illegal encroachments near the tracks.
Former DGP Vikram Singh and former DGP SP Vedya have advised PM Modi to investigate every angle of the possibility of a sabotage.
Most of the IAS and IPS officers who have signed the letter have advocated proper deployment of forces to prevent such incidents. In the letter, it has also been said that everything will become clear in the CBI investigation.
