In a major step towards transforming urban governance and public service delivery, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday inaugurated multiple development initiatives under the Urban Administration and Development Department. These included the state-wide launch of the “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign, “Angikaar-2025”, and Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana 2.0, along with a public welfare fair and the formal sanctioning of housing units under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban).
Cleanliness Campaign Becomes Mass Movement
At the Cleanliness, Housing, and Public Welfare Festival in Raipur, Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai launched the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, emphasizing the need for collective civic responsibility. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for instilling a culture of cleanliness across the nation and turning it into a citizen-led movement.
He said, “Cleanliness is not only the responsibility of women but of everyone. It is essential for public health and dignity.” On the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti and the Prime Minister’s birthday, he extended his greetings and credited Mr. Modi’s leadership for the country’s visible transformation in hygiene and sanitation.
11,000 Housing Units Approved Under PMAY Urban
In a key welfare gesture, building permits were distributed to 11,000 urban beneficiaries under PMAY (Urban). This move is set to expedite housing access for economically weaker sections and promote inclusive urban growth.
The Chief Minister also released a State-Level Swachhata Super League Toolkit, distributed compassionate appointment letters to families of deceased municipal employees, and flagged off door-to-door garbage collection vehicles, enhancing urban sanitation mechanisms.
PM Swanidhi Yojana 2.0 Rolled Out Across State
The launch of Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana 2.0 across Chhattisgarh marked a critical intervention in empowering street vendors through credit support, digital training, and formal integration into the economy. Cheques were handed over to beneficiaries at the event.
Mr. Sai reiterated that these schemes are aligned with the Vision Document 2047, aiming to establish Chhattisgarh as a leading state in building a Developed India.
Chhattisgarh Shines in Swachh Survekshan
Highlighting recent achievements, Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai announced that Chhattisgarh received seven national awards in the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25 rankings. Impressively, 58 cities from the state feature among the top 100 cleanest cities in India with populations under 20,000.
He thanked the Swachhata Didis, sanitation workers, and local bodies for their relentless work and called for further improvement in rankings.
Deputy CM Mr. Arun Sao Emphasizes Inclusive Growth
Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Arun Sao, also present at the event, said the programs reflect Prime Minister Modi’s commitment to “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”. He stated that Angikaar-2025, part of PMAY Urban 2.0, aims to ensure housing for all eligible families by October 31.
He added that PM Swanidhi Yojana 2.0 is focused on improving the livelihoods of street vendors, and the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign would strengthen grassroots civic engagement.
Mr. Sao affirmed, “Under the leadership of Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai, we are committed to making every city in Chhattisgarh cleaner, more beautiful, and more livable.”
