With the Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) installed in the capital for about Rs 18 crore, now challans of government vehicles will also be made. Preparations have been made to collect challan from 148 such government vehicles breaking traffic rules. These include 114 police vehicles and 34 administrative vehicles.
In this regard, Bhopal Traffic DCP Hansraj Singh has written a letter to the department heads asking them to get the challans filled. These vehicles are of police number MP-03 and administrative number MP-02 series. These challans have been generated recently through ITMS of Smart City Company and the City Surveillance System of Bhopal Police.
Officials believe, till now government vehicles used to get exemption in ITMS. Along with following the traffic rules, government vehicles will also have to follow the rules to reduce road accidents. Apart from this, low floor buses are also being included in this. However, during the direct checking, challans were made for low-floor buses and other government vehicles. Till now 60 challans have been reported against drink and driving.
60 challans for drink and drive in 19 days
Action is also being taken against those driving under the influence of alcohol this month. In the last 19 days, the challan amount has been recovered from 60 such drivers. However, 90 percent of these two-wheeler drivers.
300 cameras of ITMS at 30 intersections
About 300 hi-tech cameras have been installed at 30 intersections under ITMS. Through these, the vehicles breaking the traffic rules are detected and challans are generated and sent to the address of the driver.
