The Jharkhand government has intensified its efforts to generate employment opportunities for youth and unemployed citizens through the Chief Minister’s Employment Generation Scheme (Mukhyamantri Rojgar Srijan Yojana). The scheme aims to empower individuals to start self-employment ventures and create new job opportunities within the community.
Special Focus on Marginalized Sections
Implemented primarily for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Minority Community, Backward Class, and Divyang citizens, the scheme covers individuals between the ages of 18 to 50 years. To be eligible, applicants must be permanent residents of Jharkhand and registered under one of these categories.
Loan Assistance and Subsidy Benefits
Under the programme, applicants can access loans at a subsidized interest rate of just 6 percent. A maximum loan of up to Rs. 5 lakh can be availed, with the government offering up to 40 percent subsidy. For example, if an applicant secures a loan of Rs. 5 lakh, the government will bear up to Rs. 2 lakh of the amount.
Another key feature of the scheme is the relaxed guarantee requirement. Loans up to Rs. 50,000 do not require a guarantor, while loans above Rs. 50,000 require only one guarantor, making the scheme accessible for small business startups.
Easy Application Process Through State Departments
Applications for the scheme can be submitted at the District Welfare Officer’s office, the Jharkhand State Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation, or the Jharkhand State Tribal Cooperative Development Corporation. Application forms are also available at the branch offices of these corporations.
Required Documentation for Applicants
To apply, candidates must submit authentic and verified documents, including age, caste, income certificate, identity proof, and Jharkhand resident certificate. The annual income limit for eligibility is set at less than Rs. 5 lakh. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate the requirement of a loan to begin self-employment or entrepreneurial activities.
Strengthening Economic Self-Reliance in Jharkhand
Officials noted that the scheme is designed not only to create new employment opportunities but also to promote financial self-reliance and entrepreneurship across the state, especially in socially and economically disadvantaged groups.
