In a continued effort to bring government schemes directly to the people, the Jharkhand government has been organizing Janta Darbar and Jan Samvad programs at block panchayats through the district administration. These programs provide an opportunity for residents who are unable to visit block offices or other departments to directly engage with officials, apply for scheme benefits, and resolve issues through public dialogue.
Empowering People with Access to Government Schemes
The Janta Darbar and Jan Samvad programs are designed to bridge the gap between the administration and the public. Residents can directly meet with senior government officials, including the District Commissioner (DC), Deputy District Commissioner (DDC), and Block Development Officer (BDO), among others, to access benefits from various government schemes. These schemes cover a range of areas, from housing and employment to social welfare.
DC Abhijit Sinha Engages with Villagers in Barmasiya Panchayat
On Thursday, August 28, 2023, the Janta Darbar program took place in Barmasiya Panchayat, where DC Mr. Abhijit Sinha (2018-batch IAS officer), along with DDC, BDO, and other senior officials, interacted with the villagers. The DC directly addressed their concerns and instructed officials to resolve the issues immediately. The program allowed the villagers to voice their concerns, making the government’s response more direct and personal.
Direct Disbursement of Benefits
One of the highlights of the program was the on-the-spot distribution of benefits under various welfare schemes. Mr. Sinha, along with Ms. Joyce Besra, Zila Parishad President, and other officials, visited the camp to inspect its functioning and provide benefits such as the Abua Awas Scheme, Didi Bari Yojana, and others. The DC also performed a “Griha Pravesh” (housewarming) ceremony for a beneficiary, marking the tangible impact of government initiatives on the ground.
Resolving Local Disputes and Providing Solutions
In a move aimed at resolving local grievances, the DC and DDC addressed the dispute regarding a temple pathway in the region. The DC instructed the local Circle Officer (CO) to immediately intervene and resolve the issue, ensuring that the people’s concerns are promptly addressed. The program aimed not only to distribute benefits but also to provide solutions to the day-to-day challenges faced by the villagers.
Promoting Education and Employment for All
Ms. Joyce Besra, the Zila Parishad President, emphasized the importance of education in eradicating poverty and improving backwardness. She urged the villagers to prioritize education for their children, as it plays a crucial role in uplifting families and communities. Furthermore, Mr. Sinha reiterated that the government is committed to providing employment opportunities through interest-free loans and skill development programs, ensuring that no one is left behind.
The Program’s Inauguration and Warm Reception
The program began with a traditional lighting of the lamp, signifying the auspicious beginning of the initiative. Mr. Sinha was warmly welcomed by the local community, reflecting the strong connection between the administration and the people. His message was clear: the government is dedicated to reaching out to every citizen, understanding their problems, and offering solutions to improve their lives.
