Many users praised the approach, noting that decades of experience bring stability, continuity and strong institutional memory to state administration.

Experienced Bureaucrats Strengthening Governance Framework

According to the widely shared post, several retired and trusted officers have been appointed to strategic positions under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. These postings reflect UP’s evolving governance model, where administrative expertise is being harnessed to accelerate long-term reforms, regulation and system strengthening.

Key Retired Officers Now Holding Crucial Roles

The following senior officers have been entrusted with major responsibilities:

  • Mr. Awanish Awasthi, IAS (1987 batch): Advisor to the Chief Minister
  • Mr. Manoj Kumar Singh, IAS (1988 batch): CEO, UP Transformation Commission
  • Mr. Arvind Kumar, IAS (1988 batch): Chairman, State Electricity Regulatory Commission
  • Mr. Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy, IAS (1989 batch): Chairman, UP RERA
  • Ms. Dimple Verma, IAS (1989 batch): Member, UP RERA
  • Mr. S. N. Sabat, IPS (1990 batch): Chairman, UP SSSC

Profiles of Senior Officers Powering UP’s Administrative Machinery

Mr. Awanish Kumar Awasthi

A 1987-batch IAS officer, Mr. Awasthi holds a B.Tech from IIT Kanpur. He has served as District Magistrate in multiple districts and held significant assignments in the power sector as CMD of UPPCL. He later became Additional Chief Secretary, handling Home, Confidential and Religious Affairs. After retirement, he was appointed Advisor to the Chief Minister, a tenure that has been extended several times due to his trusted leadership.

Mr. Manoj Kumar Singh

A 2012-batch IAS officer (promoted from PCS), Mr. Singh currently serves as Special Secretary in the Department of Housing and Urban Planning. His administrative journey spans SDM-level field work and academic administration, where he served as Registrar at Chaudhary Charan Singh University.

Mr. Arvind Kumar

A retired 1988-batch IAS officer, Mr. Arvind Kumar has been a key figure in UP’s energy sector. He served as Principal Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) before being appointed Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission, the apex authority overseeing the state’s power regulation.

Mr. Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy

A 1989-batch retired IAS officer, Mr. Bhoosreddy is known for his spotless and professional record. After retirement, he was appointed Chairman of UP RERA, where he now oversees the state’s real estate regulatory mechanism.

Ms. Dimple Verma

Ms. Verma, also from the 1989 batch, served the state in senior roles including Director General (Youth Welfare) and Principal Secretary. After retiring, she was appointed Member of UP RERA. She is married to Mr. Prashant Kumar, a Special DGP in Uttar Pradesh.
