On Thursday, Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath led a detailed video‑conference with senior officials to assess the state’s readiness for upcoming festivals and the law and order framework. He urged a “Swadeshi Diwali” approach — encouraging citizens to prioritize indigenous goods during the festivities — framing it as a stride toward a self‑reliant India and a robust Uttar Pradesh.
Swadeshi Ethos: Turning Festival Spending into Local Growth
Mr. Adityanath emphasised that festival purchases should reflect national pride rather than mere consumerism. He instructed district administrations to organize Swadeshi fairs from October 10 onwards, enabling artisans and local vendors to showcase indigenous products. This push aims to strengthen local economies and reduce dependence on imported goods during the festive season.
From Durga Puja to Diwali: Maintaining Administrative Excellence
The Chief Minister observed that recent festivals such as Durga Puja, Dussehra, and Mission Shakti were conducted efficiently, boosting the state’s reputation for order and governance. He directed that the upcoming slate of religious and cultural events — including Narak Chaturdashi, Diwali, Govardhan Puja, Bhai Dooj, and Chhath — be handled with equal or higher diligence, ensuring both vibrancy and security.
Iconic Light Festivals: Ayodhya & Kashi in Spotlight
Stress was placed on flawless planning for Deepotsav in Ayodhya and Dev Deepawali in Kashi — festivals that now attract national and international attention. Authorities must prioritize crowd control, traffic management, security, and public facilities to deliver a safe and awe‑inspiring spectacle when millions of lamps illuminate these sacred cities.
Zero Tolerance for Disruption & Environmental Responsibility
The Chief Minister instructed that intelligence agencies and police remain alert to curtail any anti‑social or disruptive behavior. He called for strict enforcement of environmental safeguards: Lakshmi idol immersions should happen in ponds to preserve river purity; firecracker vendors must be located away from residential areas; and all permits, NOCs, and safety measures should be in place well ahead of festival days.
Food Safety & Fair Commerce During Celebrations
Mr. Adityanath directed the Food and Drug Administration and district teams to conduct intensive inspections on festival food items such as milk, sweets, and khoya, ensuring no adulteration occurs. Officials should enforce standards without burdening honest traders and swiftly penalize offenders.
Protection of Youth & Vigilance in Competitive Exams
With over 600,000 candidates expected to sit for the UPPSC exam on October 12, the Chief Minister underscored the imperative of fairness and zero malpractices. Law enforcement and district authorities must collaborate with the Commission, detaining any suspect and preserving the integrity of youth aspirations.
Social Media, Communal Harmony & Women’s Safety
Mr. Adityanath ordered strong action against those inflaming caste sentiments online. Intelligence on drone rumors, especially after Friday prayers, must be sharpened. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety, dignity, and security of mothers and sisters across the state.
Cleanliness, Power & Illumination for Festive Joy
Municipal bodies and district administrations have been instructed to launch cleanliness drives, stormwater management, and uninterrupted power supply. Spiral and decorative lights should adorn cities and towns to heighten festive ambience. Traffic plans must be foolproof, especially near temples and processional routes, so no devotee faces inconvenience.
Uttar Pradesh’s Evolving Identity: Peace, Security, and Development
Mr. Adityanath concluded by asserting that Uttar Pradesh now stands on a new axis of peace, security, and development. He urged unified efforts from the administration and police to ensure every citizen can celebrate fearlessly, joyfully, and with dignity — projecting UP’s new image as the cultural and governance standard.
