New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Mr. Nagesh Das Pai for the post of Director (Corporate Planning, Project & Business Development) at Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), a Schedule-B public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence.

The recommendation was formalized during PESB Meeting No. 114/2025, held at 11:00 AM on 10 December 2025. Following a rigorous selection process, Mr. Pai emerged as the preferred candidate based on his professional experience, leadership skills, and project-handling capabilities.

Candidates Interviewed

A total of 12 senior executives from leading defence shipyards and the Indian Navy appeared before the selection board. Notable candidates included:

  • Mr. Nagesh Das Pai, GM (Production – Navy Projects), GSL
  • Mr. Saurabh Jain, GM (Planning & Project Control – Frigates), GSL
  • Mr. Mohammed Hidayathullah Amanulla, GM (F), Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd.
  • Mr. Sivakumar Ayyaru, Chief GM (Ship Repair), Cochin Shipyard Ltd.
  • Commodore Nagesh, Warship Design Bureau, Naval HQ
  • Commodore Anup Menon, Warship Production Superintendent, Kochi
  • Cmde. S. Sreekumar, Warship Design Bureau – Project 17A, Naval HQ
  • Commodore Gautam Bedi, Cmde (Fleet Maintenance), Navy

After a detailed evaluation of domain expertise, strategic planning experience, leadership capability, and project management credentials, Mr. Nagesh Das Pai was selected as the most suitable candidate for this key role.

Role and Responsibilities

The Director (Corporate Planning, Project & Business Development) at GSL plays a crucial role in:

  • Formulating and overseeing strategic corporate plans
  • Managing major defence shipbuilding projects
  • Driving growth and diversification initiatives
  • Coordinating with the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, and export clients
  • Leading long-term business development strategies

Once the appointment is approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), Mr. Pai will assume office and contribute to the strategic expansion and modernization of GSL’s operations.
