Bengaluru: Gujarat is set to increase its contribution to India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from the current 8% to 10% by 2030, according to Mona Khandhar, the Principal Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology, Gujarat. Khandhar made the announcement at a roadshow in Bengaluru on Thursday, aimed at promoting the state’s Gujarat IT/ITES Policy 2022-27.
“We are aligned with the mission of Viksit Bharat,” Khandhar said, emphasizing Gujarat’s commitment to driving the nation’s economic growth. She highlighted that the state is already a leader in logistics and manufacturing and is now focusing on technology, particularly information technology and IT-enabled services (IT/ITeS), as crucial drivers to increase its GDP share.
Khandhar stressed that reaching the 10% target is not feasible without a strong emphasis on futuristic technologies. The state is actively working on policies to enhance its capabilities, including a new Global Capability Centers (GCC) policy and an initiative related to semiconductor development. Gujarat already has a biotechnology policy in place and is collaborating with Karnataka to create impactful projects.
Anmol Patel, Director of Ganesh Housing Corporation, also spoke at the event, noting the growing prominence of Ahmedabad as a key destination for IT and tech investments. “With Gujarat’s forward-thinking IT-ITeS policy driving growth, Ahmedabad is emerging as a prime destination for IT, IT-enabled services, and global tech investments,” Patel said.
Ganesh Housing Corporation is contributing to this vision through its ambitious Million Minds Tech City project, which offers cutting-edge infrastructure within a 65-acre integrated tech ecosystem. The project will feature 18 million square feet of IT facilities and aims to position Gujarat as a hub for technology and innovation, attracting both regional and global investments.
The roadshow, which was hosted by Ganesh Housing Corporation in partnership with the Gujarat government and the Department of Science and Technology, is part of a broader effort to showcase Gujarat’s potential in IT and innovation to a global audience.
