Amreli, Gujarat: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Sunday inaugurated and laid the foundation for 24 development projects worth over ₹707 crore in Amreli, emphasizing the state government’s continued focus on infrastructure expansion and rural development.
₹707 Crore Development Push: Key Highlights
Out of the total projects:
- 14 projects worth ₹681.78 crore were inaugurated
- 10 projects worth ₹25.23 crore were launched (foundation stone laid)
Addressing a gathering at Amreli APMC, Patel assured that the government will ensure sufficient funding for district development, stressing the importance of systematic planning and quality execution.
“We will provide adequate financial support. The key is proper planning and high-quality implementation,” Patel said.

Focus on Agriculture and Farmers
A major highlight of the event was the inauguration of the ‘Virat’ agricultural shed, built at a cost of ₹12 crore across over 2 lakh sq ft, aimed at protecting farmers’ produce.
The Chief Minister also underlined ongoing efforts to:
- Strengthen water conservation
- Promote rainwater harvesting under the ‘Catch the Rain’ campaign
- Provide ₹50 lakh annual grants to MLAs for water-related works
Industrial Growth and Investment Boost
Patel noted that industrial development in Amreli is regaining momentum, citing:
- MoUs worth ₹36,000 crore signed during the Saurashtra Vibrant Summit
- Approval of a new industrial estate under GIDC
He credited coordinated efforts of elected representatives for enabling multiple project launches simultaneously.
Rural Development and Inclusive Growth
The Chief Minister emphasized the need to:
- Extend urban-level facilities to rural areas
- Ensure development reaches even the most remote regions
He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that Gujarat has emerged as a leader in financial management, ensuring that no development work is stalled due to lack of funds.
Major Infrastructure Projects Announced
Key projects highlighted include:
- ₹272 crore: Radheshyam Machiyala Bypass
- ₹662 crore: 11 road and building works
- ₹95 crore: Railway Overbridge on Lathi Road
- ₹35 crore: Natural Agriculture College
- ₹25 crore: Science Center
- ₹16 crore: Sports complex
- ₹15 crore: Library development
- ₹35 crore: Water supply project in Varsada (already inaugurated)
Water Management and SAUNI Scheme Impact
State BJP President Jagdish Vishwakarma highlighted the success of the SAUNI (Saurashtra Narmada Avtaran Irrigation) scheme, which has:
- Delivered Narmada water to households via canals and pipelines
- Helped address long-standing water scarcity issues
- Provided relief especially to women in rural households
Additionally, over 1 lakh check dams have been constructed in the region.
Welfare Initiatives and Community Benefits
During the event:
- E-tricycles were distributed to दिव्यांग (differently-abled) beneficiaries
- Financial aid provided to Primary Agricultural Credit Societies
- Women under the National Rural Livelihood Mission received financial support
- Beneficiaries of PM Awas Yojana were handed house keys
- Winners of the 69th National School Games (U-19 Handball) were honored
Strengthening Regional Development
Energy and Law Minister Kaushik Vekariya announced an increase in funding for the Amreli Riverfront project from ₹50 crore to ₹70 crore, reinforcing the government’s commitment to regional infrastructure.
The large-scale project rollout in Amreli reflects the Gujarat government’s strategy of balanced regional growth, rural upliftment, and infrastructure modernization, positioning the district for accelerated economic and social development.
