Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel underscored the critical role of education in building a developed society and a progressive state, during the second day of the Kanya Kelavani Mahotsav and Shala Praveshotsav 2025, held on the auspicious occasion of Ashadhi Beej. The Chief Minister participated in the celebrations at the Primary School in Pundrasan village, Gandhinagar district, where he personally welcomed 197 children into the school and gifted them educational kits to mark the beginning of their academic journey.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Patel said, “Education is the foundational pillar of a Viksit Gujarat and Viksit Bharat. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, initiatives like Shala Praveshotsav, started in 2003, have instilled a deep understanding and appreciation for education among parents and communities.”
Commitment to Inclusive and Modern Education
The Chief Minister highlighted the Gujarat Government’s firm commitment to ensuring that no child is deprived of education due to financial constraints. “Multiple education-centric schemes have been launched to support students and families,” Mr. Patel stated. “Parents must actively utilise these schemes and take responsibility for their children’s future.”
He noted the shift in public perception as modern facilities like smart classrooms and improved teaching methodologies have led many students to move from private to government schools. He added that the active role played by communities in promoting education is now being fully supported by the state government.
Teachers and Communities Urged to Build Model Schools
Mr. Patel urged teachers and School Management Committees (SMCs) to work with dedication and vision to transform local schools into model institutions. “With collective effort, we can ensure quality education at the village level,” he said, encouraging parents to ensure regular school attendance and active support for their children’s learning.
“The children studying today are the future of Gujarat. Their education is not just a family priority, but a national responsibility, as they will lead the charge in building a Viksit Bharat,” he added.
Children Welcomed, Students Felicitated
At Pundrasan Primary School, the Chief Minister welcomed 197 children across various entry points—53 from Anganwadi, 54 from Balvatika, 48 from Class 1, and 42 from Classes 8-9. He also felicitated nine meritorious students for academic and extracurricular excellence. During the visit, Mr. Patel toured the school’s smart classroom, participated in a tree plantation drive, and listened to inspiring student speeches on girls’ education and social equity.
