Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government on Monday issued an official notification announcing the promotion of six senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, including officers currently serving on central deputation.
The promotions, cleared “in public interest”, take effect immediately, according to the state Home Department.
Key Promotions in Gujarat Police
Director General of Police (DGP) Promotions
Manoj Sashidhar (IPS, 1994 batch), currently on central deputation as Special Director with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), has been granted a proforma promotion to DGP.
Raju Bhargava (IPS, 1995 batch), serving as Additional Director General of Police (Armed Units), Gandhinagar, has been promoted to DGP grade and appointed to the ex-cadre post of Director General of Police (Armed Units). The post has been upgraded from ADGP cadre for this purpose.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Promotions
Three officers of the 2007 batch on central deputation have been granted proforma promotion to IGP –
- Divya Mishra – serving in the Intelligence Bureau
- Deepan Bhadran – serving in the Cabinet Secretariat
- Saurabh Tolumbia – serving in GAIL (India) Ltd.
Additionally, P V Rathod (IPS, 2007 batch), Deputy Inspector General of Police, CID (Crime), Gandhinagar, has been promoted to IGP. She has been appointed to the ex-cadre post of IGP, CID (Crime) following the upgradation of her existing DIG post.

The notification, issued in the name of the Governor by Chief Secretary M K Das, has been circulated to –
- Offices of the Governor, Chief Minister, and Deputy Chief Minister
- Senior officials of the Home and Personnel Departments
- Central agencies, including the CBI and IB
- Police leadership across Gujarat
The promoted officers will assume their upgraded roles with immediate effect.
