Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government is planning to establish an International MediCity near Kalol in Gandhinagar district with an estimated investment of ₹13,000 crore, in a major push to develop world-class healthcare infrastructure in the state. The ambitious project will be modelled on Dubai Healthcare City, one of the world’s leading integrated healthcare hubs.
According to Dr Jayanti Ravi, Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue Department, the proposed MediCity is expected to place Gandhinagar district prominently on the global healthcare map, attracting international patients, medical professionals, and investors.
World-Class Healthcare Ecosystem Planned

The MediCity will be supported by extensive allied infrastructure, including:
- Medical and nursing colleges
- Research and development (R&D) hubs
- Pharma and biotechnology research zones
- Medical devices manufacturing park
- Cold chain and logistics facilities
- Allied healthcare and wellness enablers
This integrated approach aims to strengthen Gujarat’s position as a hub for medical innovation, education, and high-quality patient care.

Once operational, the project is expected to transform Gandhinagar into a key node in India’s medical value travel and life sciences ecosystem.
