Mehsana: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, inaugurated and laid the foundation for development projects worth over ₹938 crore in Mehsana district on Sunday. The initiatives were launched under the ‘Mahimavant Mehsana’ program in Visnagar, marking a significant milestone in the district’s development journey.
A total of 174 projects across multiple sectors—including roads, healthcare, education, water supply, and energy—were either inaugurated, launched, or had their foundation stones laid.
Breakdown of Project Investments
According to the Chief Minister’s Office:
- Projects worth over ₹630 crore were inaugurated
- Foundation stones were laid for works exceeding ₹168 crore
- Completed projects worth ₹140 crore were dedicated to the public
These initiatives aim to accelerate overall growth and improve quality of life for residents across the district.
Focus on Holistic Development
Addressing the gathering, CM Patel emphasized that these projects will play a crucial role in Mehsana’s comprehensive development. He highlighted Gujarat’s strong financial management, stating that there would be no shortage of funds for development works in the state.
He assured that all viable proposals from Mehsana district would be given priority and approved without financial constraints.
Welfare Initiatives and Public Participation
During the event, nutrition kits were distributed to pregnant women as part of welfare efforts. Citizens also took a pledge to promote ‘Swadeshi’ (local products), reflecting a push toward self-reliance.
Infrastructure and Connectivity Improvements
CM Patel noted that key infrastructure developments, such as:
- Doubling of the Mehsana–Palanpur railway line
- Approval of the long-pending Taranga–Ambaji railway line
will significantly boost economic activities in the region.
Vadnagar Development and Cultural Projects
The Chief Minister reiterated the vision of Narendra Modi to develop Vadnagar—his birthplace—into a world-class heritage city. Key projects include:
- ‘Prerna School’ initiative
- Archaeological museum development
- Railway station redevelopment
These efforts aim to blend heritage preservation with modern infrastructure.
Industrial Growth and Investment Potential
During the Regional Vibrant Summit for North Gujarat, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹3.24 lakh crore were signed, showcasing the region’s industrial potential.
Mehsana is also emerging as a Food Processing Hub, further strengthening its economic profile.
Support for Farmers and Rural Development
Rishikesh Patel announced a ₹11,000 crore relief package for farmers. Over ₹250 crore has already been directly transferred to farmers in Mehsana as compensation for crop losses.
Strengthening Healthcare and Education
Key developments include:
- Establishment of sub-district hospitals in Vijapur and Kheralu
- Expansion of educational facilities such as M.N. Science College
- Special arrangements for competitive exam preparation
Urban Development and Energy Infrastructure
The government is also focusing on modern urban infrastructure, including underground power lines in towns like Unjha to make cities wire-free.
Additionally, heritage sites such as Modhera Sun Temple and Vadnagar are being upgraded with modern amenities while preserving their cultural significance.
Vision for ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’
The Gujarat government aims to play a foundational role in achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047, combining economic growth, infrastructure development, and cultural preservation.
The ‘Mahimavant Mehsana’ initiative reflects the Gujarat government’s commitment to holistic development, infrastructure expansion, and rural upliftment, positioning Mehsana as a key growth hub in North Gujarat.
