Bangalore: Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), India’s premier defense aerospace company, has announced a key leadership transition at its MiG Complex. Shishir Kumar Patra has assumed charge as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the MiG Complex, effective April 1, 2026, following the superannuation of Saket Chaturvedi on March 31, 2026.
Leadership Transition Ensures Operational Continuity
HAL’s announcement reflects a planned succession strategy to maintain stability within one of its most critical operational divisions. The MiG Complex, a pivotal unit of HAL, is responsible for manufacturing, overhauling, and technologically upgrading fighter aircraft, including the MiG series and Su-30 MKI, which form the backbone of India’s air defense capabilities.
The leadership change ensures uninterrupted management of critical defense projects, including the Tejas LCA, helicopter programs, and ongoing upgrades for the Indian Air Force (IAF).

New CEO Shishir Kumar Patra’s Strategic Focus
Under Patra’s leadership, the MiG Complex is expected to focus on:
- Operational Readiness and Upgrades: Ensuring that India’s frontline fighter aircraft remain mission-ready.
- Indigenization Efforts: Accelerating the “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiative in the defense aerospace supply chain.
- Project Timelines and Deliverables: Maintaining strict adherence to critical delivery schedules for the IAF.
This transition is seen as a move to maintain technical excellence and leadership stability, which is closely monitored by institutional investors and stakeholders in the defense sector.
Compliance and Official Disclosure
The leadership change was officially disclosed to the BSE and NSE in compliance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. The filing was signed by Shailesh Bansal, Company Secretary & Compliance Officer of HAL.
