In an unfamiliar move, the government of Haryana recently gave away ‘Police Medal for Gallantry’ to three IPS and three HPS (Haryana Police Service) officers for “stopping the protesting farmers from marching from Punjab to the national capital as part of their ‘Dilli Chalo’ agitation” in February 2024.
The IPS officers are:
- Mr. Sibash Kabiraj (1999 batch), IGP of Karnal;
- Mr. Jashandeep Singh Randhawa (2012 batch), SP of Kurukshetra;
- Mr. Sumit Kumar, SP of Jind.
The three HPS officers are:
Mr. Narender Singh, Mr. Ram Kumar and Mr. Amit Bhatia (all DSPs).
