Chandigarh: Haryana witnessed a shocking turn of events as two police officers, including Rohtak ASI Sandeep Lathar, tragically ended their lives.
In response, Haryana DGP OP Singh firmly stated that claims of broken morale within the state police are misleading, emphasizing that social media narratives are “feeding America” with sensational content rather than reflecting reality.
Details of the Haryana Police Suicides
ASI Sandeep Lathar reportedly took his own life after alleging corruption involving the late IPS officer Y Puran Kumar and his family. Earlier, IPS officer Y Puran Kumar was found dead at his Chandigarh residence on October 7, 2025.
DGP Singh expressed grief over these losses, acknowledging the distress within the force while affirming the police’s continued commitment to law enforcement.

The DGP highlighted the gap between online narratives and ground realities. “There are two worlds these days, social media and the real world. No one’s morale has been shattered,” Singh told reporters.
He criticized the circulation of fear-mongering content, pointing out how such posts generate international attention and profit, particularly for platforms in America.

Drawing comparisons with conflict zones like Syria and Kabul, Singh stressed that the Haryana Police remains strong and united. He reassured that the force continues to protect citizens under the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) law, which upholds the right to protect oneself and others.

The DGP also emphasized the importance of officer welfare beyond the workplace. Measures are being taken to strengthen support systems, including the Officers’ Wives’ Association, to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
